    Maine Bound!

I’ll be sure to share some stories and pictures. The camp is definitely an old school Maine deer camp. Hopefully the game pole will have a few on it!

    Maine Bound!

It’s been a tough first season in NY. I’ve had a couple close calls, watched guys walk by my stands, and witnessed a war zone for the rifle opener around my cabin. Now, it’s time to get away for 8 days and hunt with my old man for the first time in about 10 years. He and I both got away from...

    Starter Bow

I picked up a mission switch setup this year to get started in bow hunting. It’s comfortable to shoot and feels like a solid bow for the money. I think I have $650 into it for the full setup.

Is it too late to move stands?

A real steward for R3 I imagine...Chasing off all of us lowly eastern hunters and shaming those who are proud of their pronghorn. Never said anything about hunting a heated stand or food plot, so you may want to slow down before you judge my character. I did, however, learn from my father and...

Is it too late to move stands?

Would you suggest setting up on the top of that knob?

Is it too late to move stands?

As you can tell, I have some time this morning while riding the train to work. I also lack hunting buddies, so y’all are getting my caffeine fueled brainstorm!

Is it too late to move stands?

Taking a stab at this spot. The line denotes a peak where I think a buck may bed. I’m not a seasoned hunter by any means, but this looks like a nice funnel. My seat currently sits a half mile below this spot along a pond edge that’s full of sign. Hopefully, the deer funnel down from this high...

Is it too late to move stands?

So, I’m hunting a new piece of state land this year and got a bit of late summer scouting in. When I set the seats I was worried about the ease of access, but had trail camera intel and went for it. Here I am, watching grouse hunters run their dogs under my stand and listening to hikers chat...

    Bowhunting from the ground

Built this one into a blowdown. I figure I can shoot through a small gap from my knees or stand up and shoot over the top. This spot calls for a blind because of the thick canopy that would make shooting from a stand tough. We’ll see if it works!

    Sell me a rain jacket

I run a Carhartt rain jacket at work, and it doesn’t suck. It’s definitely durable and it hasn’t wet through even in some pretty major rain storms. I think it goes for around $100

What do you do with your coyotes

So, I’ve never been a predator hunter, but as I get more into hunting I want to give it a go. I’m curious what you guys do with your coyotes...Do you leave them lay, skins for the walls, or have you made garments out of the furs? My girlfriend handled a coyote fur at the local bow shop and...

    7mm-08 vs Black Bears

Hey ya’ll, I have a bear tag along with my NY deer tag, and I’ve got a few spots where the bears seem to be showing up a lot on camera. Do any of you have experience using a 7mm-08 on Black Bears? I plan on running 140gr pills out of my Remington Model Seven. I believe this is plenty of gun...

    Eastern WY 2019

I’d love to make this trip happen next year. How difficult is it to draw a deer tag in eastern wy? I bought wy deer and antelope points this year. I’d be coming from NY, so it’d be nice to have more opportunity while I’m out there...

    Bowhunting from the ground

In natural blinds do you sit low and as covered as possible and then stand to draw when the game isn’t looking? I’ve been debating if it’s best to tuck myself into my blind and worry about standing to get the shot when I see the game, or if I should be standing as to be ready with limited...

    Bowhunting from the ground

I threw some brush around the base of an uprooted tree. Probably didn’t make the best blind, but it breaks up my profile. Be careful not to brush it out too high as it makes drawing your bow tough. I had a few does walk within 15 yards of me while I was setup in there. Got busted by one, but she...

    OnX Issues

Did you delete the original saved maps? I haven’t dared to delete the original saved maps for fear that my waypoints would be cleared.

    OnX Issues

So, I messed with the maps a little. Redownloaded one area and then all of a sudden I could see the private land boundaries on all my maps while I’m in airplane mode and offline. Not really sure what was going on, but hopefully I don’t have that issue again.
