I really appreciate all this feedback.
I’m leaning heavily toward the ms271 farm boss with an 18” bar. I’m not the most experienced, but want something with enough power to do the work. I think this saw is a pretty good fit for the price
Living in NYC has me a little worried, but odds are that if we get it we’ll be ok.
There’s a lot of dangerous shit out there...this is just the thing we are focused on. If I got an alert on my phone every time someone died from the flu or a car crash I’d probably be afraid to leave the house...
I’d be using it for the occasional projects and cutting wood. Early spring and late fall it will get most of it’s use. Probably not going to use it more than a couple times a month.
I’d like to be under $400
I know there’s truck saw thread, but that’s not what I’m after. I’m looking to buy my first chainsaw.
I’ve run a handful, but it’s time to get my own. I’m looking for something that’s well rounded. I fell a decent amount of small trees, and there are a couple maples of 24” or so on our property...
Our cabin in the Catskills of NY. Bought it from some older fellas and fixed it up ourselves.
Planning on moving from the city and hoping to make it a full time home soon (at least until we can buy something more substantial). Going to be hard to keep access clear all winter, though.
Best thing I could do is leave my place in NYC and head west to hunt. Still a toss up if I’ll make it out this year, but that decision has nothing to do with coronavirus and the markets. If it really hits the fan I’ll be holed up in my camp in upstate NY.
Did you run 265/75?? It’s quite a jump
From the 245s that came with the truck, but there are a ton more options in that size as opposed to 265/70. I’m considering a c or d load tire if I can find one.
Anyone tried running 265/75-16 on a stock Tacoma? Little worried it’ll crowd the wheel wells and rub when I’m off-road. 265/70-16 are hard to find in a C or E rated
They’re P-rated. It’s tough to find LT tires in the size I’m looking for though. Might have to go Coopers instead of the wild peaks or try to fit a 265/75 on my stock ride.
Alright, ladies and gents, I know tires come up enough on here, so I’m not going to ask your opinion on brands. I already know I’m going with the 265/70-16 Falken Wildpeak AT3W, anyway.
Instead, I need you to help convince myself and my old lady (she’s bringing me down on this one) that...
Had two of mine ripped down and stomped by bears last year. One of them actually ripped it down then a couple days later came back and messed with it and stomped it into the mud.
I’ve found if you put them up 6-8’ or so it makes a difference. They don't seem to notice them as easily as when...
I’m a sucker for a wood stock, so I wouldn’t get rid of the featherweight. Why not keep it and add a synthetic tikka to the safe?
I have a t3x hunter in 30-06. My experience with the tikka is that it’s a comfortable gun and shoots well. I’d like to add a 7 mag tikka t3x lite ss to the gun safe...
I’ve had good luck with my 400g Danner Alsea. I’ve run them for a few hunting seasons and have been happy with the comfort, warmth, and they’re decently waterproof. That being said, I hunt much smaller eastern mountains, but I certainly don’t baby them. As I’ve gotten more serious in the last...
