I got permission to Turkey hunt the farm behind my house this year. I wasn’t planning to hunt the PA opening morning (lazy), but spotted some birds working the fields in the light rain and steady breeze. I decided to grab my slate and the 12ga and see if I could sneak into the hedgerow that...
Work truck is a 2023 Chevy 6.6 with the single cab and 8’ bed…getting around 13 mpg but I’ve only had it a month so we’ll see. My other truck is a 2021 tundra getting 13 mpg. Love the 3/4 ton for pulling trailers…doesn’t get pushed around as much when braking and cornering.
Ironwill S100 is my suggestion. Easy tuning and in my experience they do great if you hit bone. That’s a pretty light arrow setup in my opinion, so I think a premium broadhead that can help penetration is a must.
A mouse ended up in my pack and chewed its way out. the zipper was shot but they repaired it for $60 and had it back to me in a month. Awesome customer service
I just started to get the squeak now. It’s annoying but not a deal breaker.
Arrowed my first archery buck. Public land in PA. Heavy quartering away shot at 33 yards…double lung and only a 40 yard track job. Couldn’t be happier!
I had a chance at my first ever archery buck last year. He came running right to 10 yards facing me and locked onto me in the tree when I drew back. After a minute at full draw he turned and went behind a tree. I let down and he stepped out on the other side of the tree at about 18 yards. I drew...
I’ve done dozens of small creek crossings to nearly the top of mine and never had wet feet. I wouldn’t say I’m particularly good about maintenance (oiled them once) and they’ve still held the waterproofing for three years.
I would stay out of there until the morning of. Go in early and setup either the saddle or a hang on and hunt. Idea being that you’ll catch them before they get to the bed. If it’s going to be a spot you want to hunt repeatedly for the season I’d probably lean toward the hang on and leave it up...
Appreciate this a lot. With the potential 90/10 I’m thinking it’d be wise to start to focus on getting these Wyoming hunts in. I’d definitely like to do antelope next year and maybe use the time out there to scout some potential deer spots for the following year.
As for elk, I’d love to do an...
I’m trying one this year. Thethrd phantom with the XL platform. A lot of my hunts are 2-4 miles from the truck, so carrying even my lightest millennium hang-on can be a pain. I think if you can get in a tree with some limbs to lean on occasionally it will be very comfortable.
I mostly stand...
I like my KO2s on my tundra. Theyre good on the highway and solid off-road. Haven’t gotten into anything crazy but they perform well in snow storms, on service roads, and have held up to riding over shale.
Like any tire, they have their limitations (Ice)
I’ve seen 3 or 4 over the last year. One I’ve been watching almost daily for a year. She seems to always hang in the back of a field nearby. Shocked she made it through PA gun season last year.
Im in northeast PA. Drew on the first round and apparently our region added a lot of tags after a big cut last year.
I’m new to hunting this side of the river, as I primarily hunted the Catskills the last few years. It’s definitely more pressured than I’m used to, but I guess I’m part of the...
I think it’s time for me to start working on my shooting and researching for the trip. I’m sure there will be more threads to come.
The wife hates the idea of me going alone cause she thinks I’ll get lost. I guess an INreach is going to be necessary to keep her happy. Other than that I’m ready...
Im early in the research stage, but those were two I keyed in on for access reasons. Mainly I just want to see some pretty country and hopefully some animals. Big bucks are nice but I’d be happy with anything, so larger numbers is more important to me than trophy class bucks.
