Go Hunt predicted 100% odds for a WY special draw antelope hunt @ 3pts. Reality was 10% odds @ 4 pts I did not draw. Would love to know how badly Bro Hunt whiffed for you this year. Yeah I know it's not a crystal ball...however.
It sure would be great if they posted how close their prediction...
Thank you for that bit of info! I will head out there this summer and get a lay of the land. Then I'll wait till Dec to go back and look for deer specifically.
Got me...should have been more specific...I'm talking about good elk rifle tags...and Idaho was not...there was/is a cap on NR elk hunters in ID so its never a sure thing. I'm not going to count the mad house that is OTC 2nd and 3rd season CO. I'm talking about consistent licensure for the...
As a NR, I'm dying to know what state your referring to that provides consistent licensure for NR hunters. Probably the same state that provides a generous 11 month season with unlimited OTC tags for chupacabra.
And just to get ahead of an @Albus resonse to my last post, I'll repost Mr Martin's statement for dramatic effect. Drum role please....
Just because I point out your improving wildlife on your land with other people's pennies does not mean I'm making a case that I should have access to said...
Your side stepping the issue. I just pointed out that the wildlife improvements you make on your property is done with some of my pennies. I made no moral statement about the good or bad or right or wrong of subsidies as they relate to farming. Life is good...and your still making wildlife...
I think one of the main things I have learned from this thread is that when you have generation after generation of a large portion of the AG community propped up and sustained by government subsidy, it becomes entrenched in their way of thinking. It leaks out as the status quo and infects every...
Drew the January archery deer tag for this region of NM. If your familar with the unit, is there enough snow high in the mountains to push deer to lower elevations at this time of year? I'm trying to get a sense of how effective summer or early fall scouting will be.
More like Mountain Circus.
Did you hire 10th generation Russian and bare chested uber outdoorsman Vladimir Putin as your policy wonk?
I'm out as well. Good luck in your endeavors.
And the big fat truth is you will continue to get squat.
There is a reason environmental groups that have been around for several decades continually and exclusively go after the feds and not the states. Feds are a nice big fat juicy immobile target begging to get hit. In fact, the federal...
I would loooooove for you to make another thread and jump down the rabbit hole of defending fair chase. I'll go purchase a 50lb sack of popcorn and two 55 gallon barrels of diet cherry Dr Pepper. I've been reading your articles for years and your position on fair chase smacks of worst kind of...
Looks like I'll be hunting unit 17 late archery for mule deer. My first hunt in NM. Not expecting much from the hunt but stoked to be notching a NM experience!
Elk Creek Partial Dam: Here is the story of a dam that kind of sort of was and wasn’t a dam. It sure the heck was a huge mistake and a huge waste of money.

I agree with you, striving for a humane kill is typically synonymous with ethical hunting. But not every humane kill is ethical. These two facts make it clear that you cannot judge an ethical harvest by how humane it is. You can't judge ethics of a hunter by how humane or how much suffering an...
I agree that a humane kill should be a goal of the typical modern hunter. However, a humane kill is NOT synonymous with an ethical kill. This thread is about the ethics of hunting and harvesting, so I am only addressing the ethical-ness of long range shooting. I am not addressing the presence or...
