Can't really go wrong with either i dont think. My son just killed a bull last year with a Christensen Ridgeline 6.5. A well placed 250 yard shot and that bull was as dead as any I've ever killed with a Magnum caliber. We've also killed a few muleys and bears with it. Worked just fine on all of them
It took a lot of years but I finally drew an elk tag in Wyoming! Headed to unit 62!! I know there's lots of grizzlies, but hopefully that just adds to the adventure. Can't wait.
I shoot an .204 Ruger AR that I built using Sharps Bros Upper and lower and a Proof research carbon barrel. It shoots 40 grain Hornady Superformance really well. Since I finally switched over to the AR platform for coyotes I don't think that I could ever go back to a bolt gun.
A couple years ago my partner and I found a small bear that we didn't want to shoot so I called to her, just messing around. She picked up her head and trotted straight to us. Pretty fun experience.
I see that going in to this years draw there are 1040 people left with max points for elk in Wyoming. I can't seem to find how many max point holders there were in previous years. I'm wondering how much the number changes each year? I doubt its very much, but I can't seem to find it out...
