I shoot two 300 mags. One a 300 SAUM with a 22' barrel and the other a 300 RUM with a 26" barrel. The shorter barrel is a much nicer package to hunt with in Mn. Ammo if factory loaded for the RUM is much more expensive than the Win mags either WSM or reg Win mag. If you reload any of them...

The only Barnes bullet I have seen Barnes recommend a crimp on is the .308 cal. 130gr. The shank area of this bullet with the relief grooves is very short and a 168 with the 300 H&H.
I load many Barnes bullets and have never had a neck gripping issue, I do the 140 TSX in 7-08 and...
Could you tell us what 225 bullet your are using? I get different pressures with 225 Barnes TSX than I do with 225 Nosler Partitions and 225 Sierras. If shooting Barnes monos seating deeper is your friend for pressure and accuracy.
The theory with deeper seating is the more jump to lands the...
This is the least expensive I have seen lately.

The 223 with 50, 52, 55 or 62 gr TSX bullets will kill deer just fine. Nosler 64 gr. BSB bullets work great also. Then that leaves a ton of cheap 223 for practice. That to me sounds like a wining combo for a 12 year old. Then take him out to shoot some P-dogs.
I have done it both ways and find no difference in accuracy. I now work up my loads and clean when done shooting. If it makes YOU feel better clean as much as you want otherwise just enjoy shooting your new gun.
I did 23 a couple of years ago with doe tags. Got in two days of hunting in the BLM area north of Beaver Creek before the big snow. I did fill my two tags but my wife didn't. Lots of hunters and fewer lopers than I expected. I was there on the opener, mid week, but would consider a later...
Those made in Japan Tascos were well made scopes. I have several in the old scope pile. Had a 2x7 on a 338 Winchester and shot hundreds of rounds through that gun and the scope never wavered, it is on an air rifle now still going strong.
I would rather have them show little or no reaction and fall over dead within 20 yards than show a big reaction and run 1/2 mile. If I were to try another bullet 125 or 140 partitions would get a hard look.
If your rifle fouls badly with regular bullets it will be the same with mono bullets. If its a fouler use Dyna Bore coat and that will help greatly with the fouling. I shoot mono bullets in 6mm, 270, 7mm, 308 and 338 and have no issues with copper fouling.
I have my best groups with 200 gr. Partitions with Magnum and OK groups with H1000. I had good results with Hodgdon 50bmg and 180's I never got around to trying it with the 200's.
