I understand that, does anyone know the repercussions of this Bill on NR “unlimited” sheep? It seems to be conveniently not mentioned.
I’m fine with it if there are limits, it would just be nice to know.
Almost hard to believe but there is a Bill that would give NR’s with a R relative preference to limited sheep permits. SB520.

I see waterfowl and upland game mentioned but nothing about unlimited sheep permits. Would this potentially cap those? Sorry for the rudimentary question, I don’t have an attorney on staff to translate some of these bills into how regular folks communicate.
I’m referring to the number of current LOP applicants in permitted areas.
"We included the total numbers (also low), then we removed permitted areas because there's no guarantee these will be drawn, and we can't honestly point to those as folks who will be moved from public to private."
Why didn’t BHA reference the most recent and actual number from 2022, it’s easy to obtain. In total it was most recently 95% or 73/77, so not a guarantee overall but damn close.
Funny how they could hire a GIS analyst to figure out a number that is somewhat difficult to obtain but couldn’t look...
I do take the age with a tiny bit of a grain of salt. You would think these people sealing rams know what they are doing but sometimes they don’t. Shot a ram in CO and the gal plugging it was just about to write down the age on the sheet and I asked what she came up with. She said “I get six.”...
Not much about it makes sense. Unlikely a deadhead because there are no other deadheads listed for any prior years and it’s the only “Other” for 2022. Musselshell county is quite a ways from sheep country, and the Dec 7 date is well past the latest hunting season closure. Maybe it is 5** because...

Anyone know what’s up with the 12/07/2022 harvest of an “Other” 3yr old ram that sported a whopping horn length x base of 21.125 x 11.125 out of 5** -Musselshell county? Were the Boddingtons in town?
Just curious about this descriptor since I see it all the time on this site and finally need to ask about why it is necessary to use. It seems to be used in a derogatory manner, as if those individuals should have given their money or land away when they inherited it, worked hard for it, or got...
Ben, can you confirm some numbers in this letter? “From 2012 to 2022, Montana lost 13,000 resident hunters.”
Resident Conservation license sales went from ~220k in 2012 to ~287k in 2021. R elk (only) licenses dropped about 13k in that timeframe but when you factor in Sportsman’s with and W/o...
