Dad's 32 Special story
Nice story, I killed my first three elk with a 32. It was my uncles model 94. In fact I think that I killed my first couple of deer and antelope with it. It was a fabulous gun and shot very well. Lightwieght, and without kick. I was a very small lad and a kicking gun just wouldn't do. -

Gundog, I would say you are screwed until them youngins is old enuf to hunt. Then maybe you will get an October out in the sticks. Till then, better stick to killin em with sticks. -

Keep elk from spoiling?
My uncle killed a small bull in 80 degree weather. ( probably down to the 40s that night). We gutted it and threw it over some sage brush to drain. I quartered it about 2 hrs later and hung it in a tree. We packed him out 2 days later and had no problem. I am by no means an expert, but the one... -

Gator / ELK Combo hunt ;)
Congrats on a couple of great hunts. I am with you on the killing next to the road thing. I was able to get one about 100 yds from the road a couple of years ago. I guess it's paybacks for all those miserable packs from about 4 miles in. -

Uncanny, theres got to be more to it than that. I've heard stories about how Adams ends up with all of the fantastic game. I think I'm startin to figure it out, and I bet theres more to it than luck.
