I've loaded Barnes bullets for years. I almost always start .040 off lands and then move deeper by 0.010 so I am at .090. Three shot groups to start with. One of those loads should be the clear winner. I found that moving .020 off is just to much.
I hear you...But you can get all different styles of rims and lots of different options on how far they stick out. The ones I chose just moved my wheel out another 1.5 inches. So the wheel is almost flush with the edge of the wheel well. I didn't want them sticking out and throwing mud, snow...
Thats why I put different rims on my truck. Got rims with a different offset so the rim and tire are now 1.5 inches farther out. Now I have enough clearance to put chains on.
I bought a set of new truck rims that the offset is different than the originals. They put the tire out farther and that way I have the clearance to put chains on the front tire. I put my 10 ply tires on the rims also. So far I have not had to chain up....close though. And if I go down the one...
Keep looking and look farther away. I just bought a new truck, local dealer started at MSRP and then there were some company rebates and incentives. 3 other dealers did the same. Started looking farther away and saved 5,000 bucks by doing so. And I did the same with my old (2018) truck. There...
I have looked at a diesel many many times and every time I put a pen to it I go in the hole. The milage you MIGHT save is just not worth it. At least where I am at diesel is at least 50 cents a gallon more than unleaded. And at times its 80 cents a gallon more. Plus with a newer diesel you have...
I guess to each their own. But my elk/deer are usually a long way from camp and I don't have 4 legged critters to pack my stuff. So my knife goes to work and no bones come out with my meat. I see to always be able to get meat secure in my pack so don't see the need for a bone to help out.
I always check the hazmat fee's of places before I hit the "buy" button. Some places charge way over what hazmat should be and then put a huge shipping fee on top of that. Was nice to buy a bunch of powder and primers together for the one fee
I rechecked my data today, my 143 hammer hunters are going 3100. I couldn't get a TTSX going over 2900, my bad. Son shot a mule deer buck, at the shot it did a 90 degree turn and stood there, so he shot it again. It stood a little bit and started trotting down into a ditch so he shot it again...
143 Hunters. Bullet worked as advertised. But I don't like the .284 exit hole. I hunt thick stuff and like a bigger exit hole. That is my only dislike about them.
I've shot hammers. And my one 7mm rem mag will just make the 3000 ft/sec mark. But after shooting a couple animals I'm not that happy with the performance of the bullet and am switching back to the TTSX or may try a CX.
Thats actually pretty good speed. I get 2900 out of 2 7mm rem mags. However both those rifles shoot extremely well. At that speed it will still preform and expand at 600 yards at the elevation I hunt. Would I like more speed??? Sure would but neither rifle will do it.
Had a neighbor that used to use a 10 gauge 3 inch slug for deer hunting. OUCH. I'm now using a 20 gauge instead of a 12 gauge. Its the savage bolt action 220 series. Shoots extremely well with the right sabot slug. I'd rather shoot my 338 win mag vs a 12 gauge slug gun
I had one do same thing. All of a sudden my groups really opened up. Could not figure it out. I took the break off and for some reason looked into the bottom to see some pieces had broke off. Factory brake.
