Looks like the south east facing slopes are best for scouting mornings and south west facing slopes for evenings. Everything else seems a too thick to do anything with.
Also closer to the foothills seems better than up higher closer to GMR.
Only seen a few deer but mostly going out and trying to get the lay of the land. Haven’t been out for an evening scout yet.
It varies by where you are, but East of the Monroe TT is generally experimental. If you stop by the Little Dalton Ranger Station, they have a map of it.
I’m guessing you’ve glasses from this spot a time or two! Was here this morning. From first light to 7am. Glassed 4 deer. I’m thinking still hunting the back ridge where the canopy is would probably be a good play too.
Also this area looks great on the west side of the reservoir. I glasses it a little and could see a ton of game trails. You ever hunt over there? I’m gonna work this Monroe truck trial some more but I want to get over to that side before season opens.
Actually, the east side of the lake at the shoreline and just above will always have a few decent bucks in October (that’s when they rut). You have to hike down a ridge off of the dirt road from the GMR.
I scouted that Glendora ridge motorway and saw a few spots to head down to get to the reservoir. Can’t glass it much so I’m guessing more still hunt or ambush of a game trail right?
Is you go down that end ridge all the e way out that road it’s relatively open and you can glass those oak trees down there. The west side can be okay, but tough find legal parking spots off that highway.
The actual dirt road to that ridge don’t overlook the south facing slopes that head to the homes….usually more deer in there
