Your middle and rear screw sound right. If I am working with an action that has not been bedded (wood) I pull 90 on the front. With nicely bedded actions pulling 60 - 70 seems to work well.
Barnes Tipped TSX, Nosler BT, and Sierra GK in 100 grain, and Nosler AB in 110 grain. None of my rifles (all either 9 or 9.5 twist) really liked the Barnes bullet, but I know some other guys that like them. My favorites have been the Nosler BT and AB bullets.
I have shot benchrest for many years. Cleaning the barrels after shooting is the common practice, as is shooting again to foul the barrel before shooting for score.
With hunting rifles the only cleaning I usually do is after the season ends each year. I believe the "tactical" crowd, and the...
I have seen 165 AccuBonds work very well for elk in a 308. I have tried a lot of different bullets on elk, and can not find anything that works better (or as well) as the AB. Monometal bullets work very well - if there is sufficient impact velocity. The softer bullets usually work well, but...
My friend's son shot a big 10 point (Eastern count) whitetail in the neck a couple of years ago. He walked up on the buck, leaned his rifle against a tree, and took out his mobile phone for pictures. The buck stood up and simply ran away. A neighbor took that buck a week later. The initial...
I have had good experiences with Silencer Central. The process is a long one and the additional time for certain procedures does seem to take people by surprise if they are not familiar with the entire process. For example the extra couple of weeks at the end for local law enforcement approval...
I have a recent production SE in 375 H&H. I have owned many Winchesters over the years, and frankly it is the best Winchester I have ever owned or used.
I have had the best results with IMR 3031 in a 30-30 lever rifle. The 150 needs a fairly fast burning powder, so I would think that either IMR 4895 or H 4895 would be better than CFE 223.
I am an old bench rest guy. The vast majority of us clean regularly, but not during a match. I don't know anyone that does not use their rod often, except on internet boards.
Just send it to Douglas (https://www.douglasbarrels.net/fitting-services). They will match your barrel with one of their premium barrels and fit it to your rifle for a very good price. Most of my hunting rifles use their stainless barrels. They do not do bluing in house, but chat with them to...
