Assuming muzzle velocity and powder charge? The ladder test for my rifle showed that the accuracy of 3 shot-groups was best (0.4 MOA at 100 yards) at 75.5 gr of RL-26. My GeoBalistics app shows an estimated velocity of 2080 fps at 600 yards so I am confident fast enough from 0-600 yards to...- samuel_284Win

Reloaded some 300 Win Mag target and hunting ammo a few nights ago with my brother-in-law. On the left: Nosler 210 gr RDF with 78.24 gr of H1000, COAL of 3.49, FPS of ~ 2960 On the right: Barnes 175 gr LRX with 75.5 gr of RL-26, COAL of 3.47, FPS of ~ 3090 Mag well is a touch over 3.5 so...- samuel_284Win

Big Bullets for Big Animals?
So far, I have been impressed and have no reason to change from my 300 win mag loaded with 175 gr Barnes LRX going about 3090 fps. Among myself, my wife, and my mom, my 300 win mag setup has taken 3 pronghorn and 3 elk in the 2024 season. Will continue to use as is until I am convinced otherwise.- samuel_284Win

In addition, I understand that each state's responsibility is to its own residents (as @Big Fin has pointed out on multiple occasions). As a Montana resident, I think we pay too little for a general elk and deer tag given just the value of being able to put 150-200 lb of meat in your freezer with one elk. I say move it to $60 for elk. It would be about equal to CO, NM, WY on average.- samuel_284Win

How much water do you carry in your pack?
I have been comfortable with a 2 liter Platy bladder and then a 32 oz Nalgene. I like to put an electrolyte mix in the Platy bladder to sip on and then have pure water in Nalgene in case I want to make ramen or have a mid-day instant coffee with the MSR pocket rocket stove.
