    Big Bullets for Big Animals?

I used a Ruger Model 77 in .338 WinMag for Alaska moose and caribou hunting for many years. Did my last remote Alaska hunt in Fall of 2023, so I will probably sell my .338 soon. I love that rifle more than any other I ever owned, and it seemed to fit me like a glove. My only regret is not...

    Experience with Lupus?

Prayers up for your daughter and for you and your family. Kids are really resilient, but it sucks when they have things like this hurdle to tackle. Hoping the rheumatologist can work a good plan with you.

    ID Grandpa's Old 30-30

Yup, Savage 340. Shot my first couple of deer with mine many moons ago. Mine was a shooter, pretty impressed with it for a relatively inexpensive rifle. Sold it to a guy who had never shot anything bigger than a .22. He flinched when he shot it, and was about a foot wide of centee at 100 yards...

    Hit/lost bull

I don't think it bodes well that the bull went 250 yards and then turned up a steep slope. I am no elk expert tho, so hopefully some of the seasoned elk hunters chime in soon.

    Public Shaming Drone Flying POS

If this guy posts his drone footage on Youtube and draws a bunch of new traffic to this area, that might be considered harm...if he makes money from the footage, even worse.

    Shipping meat home

Might be a good idea to check with some who have floated that area. I haven't floated the Yukon, but have read several accounts of strong winds on the Yukon that made floating downstream quite a chore. Can't remember what stretch of the Yukon it was.

    August Alaskan moose hunt

Hard to wander in the thick brush along the rivers. Maybe ease along the river looking for sign, and still hunt slow in areas where there seem to be sign. Moose can move really quietly when they want to, take your time and watch and listen. August seems a little early for calling.
