I’m in the same situation as you, my son turns 18 next year and I have been buying him points.
My plan is to keep buying points for him for deer and elk but just apply for sheep and goat tags. Very low odds to draw a tag, but figure it's only another few dollars to play that lottery.
.
Now that would be an interesting hunt.
Seems reasonable to expect a season if the numbers allow. But is there any recreational hunting in China for big game at all?
We are fortunate to have some really cool species / hunts available here. It’s a DIY hunters paradise with no tags or seasons.
Sika are another species that makes a very cool hunt. I went looking for a mature sika stag last week but only found females and a young stags.
Here’s a sika stag from...
Yeah, those increases are too rich for me to keep building points for my son and I.
I’ll keep my 5 general deer points (don’t think they expire) and maybe do a deer hunt if it works out.
I moved from small town New Zealand to study at OSU in 1992. I didn’t have access to fast food in NZ so I clearly remember the $99 whopper and $5 all you can eat KFC.
Looks like a great idea! I had hoped my son would be interested but unfortunately he wasn’t. I would have applied for the cow tag and camp if he was interested.
Hope you get your spot.
I think the fun part is looking at the predictive odds and trying to work out the logic for the odds.
Clearly in Colorado there have been recent changes, and planned changes, that will impact the draw odds.
For example removing NR OTC, reducing NR allocation and plans to increase the point...
I’ve had 3 great pronghorn hunts in the same WY unit and think thats probably me done.
I don’t have points but might try my luck in the standard random draw and see if I can fluke another tag like last year.
