After a couple of nasty windy days this morning was perfect for turkey hunting. First day of the regular seasons. the tree gobbling started as early in the predawn as I've ever heard it. The old topper .410 definitely did its job !

With the low fur prices the Raccoon population as in most ares has sky rocketed. I figured the ground nesters around here needed some assistance . Just on my 83 acres. 36 raccoons 8 opossums 6 skunks I'm sure I've created a vacuum , so after a short break I'll be back at it !

    My 2025 Iowa season

    HTer Goals '25 Edition

Lost about 50 lbs in 2024 , not real sure because I was too embarrassed to weigh myself at the start. My goal for 2025 is to not find it again. Also to get another chance at the big buck I arrowed in the scapula.

    Inedible

That buck doesn't look to be too old. A buddy and I both shot bucks , two or three year olds that we did the gutless method , boned out the meat while it still had body heat. Hung up the bags in very cold weather and both bucks were tough as shoe leather. we had shot older bucks in...

I thought we were already above capacity with coyotes. Wish this bunch would have been resorbed.
