I have 1 place in particular that I hunt that cuts off 2 hours roundtrip in my sxs versus truck travel. I can get places way faster in a sxs than beating up my truck and rolling down crappy roads at 5mph
I have never taken 1 hunters perspective over a unit as if it were good or terrible. Hunt it for yourself and do what you know. Example I hunted a unit in ID one year and probably saw 300-400 elk and elk were on every single ridge I glassed from the fs road. I read a guys story on a forum and he...
Wondering if anyone on here has drawn this tag in the past and willing to discuss unit in pm's? Not looking for spots, but access, bull quality and over all what you thought of the hunt.I have spent some time on the MT side archery hunting over the years.
I just saw your message, snow is very different from year to year from what I had gathered. Last year was record snowfall in UT and I saw a hunt in 21 that was in the 60's
lotta elk will be right where they were during archery and lotta bugling in the beginning of the season. Only factor is early snow could push them down some, but they are right at snow line. Lotta elk in that unit. I have a hard time not seeing elk in almost every drainage
how fawns and calves survive. First 2 weeks of life fawns spend very little time moving with mom, if they did they would end up dead as they are not fast enough to out run predators yet
I did learn if you are on the fence on a bull or think Ill shoot him tomorrow dont lol. I learned that almost every bull I saw one day I never turned up again. It was like a revolving door of bulls every day...new ones every morning. You could glass from the same spot every day and see new elk
