Our team uses a lot of SKBs with adjustable butt plates and combs. The auto I see most often is an R300, I believe. My kid is still too small for those, so haven’t paid a ton of attention. Or you could do what we did and put an adjustable butt plate system on an old 870.
My boys have shared a Rustler vxl 4x4 for years. Younger one is getting his own for his birthday in a couple weeks. They're a lot of fun and it's nice you can actually repair them now a days. Both kids are getting really good at putting together parts lists and making the repairs themselves.

My boy has taken several birds with Federal TSS 9’s out of his 410. Closest was 35 yds. Furthest was over 50 yds. I did have to stand on that one’s neck for just a bit, but he wasn’t getting back up.
