Finally getting around to going through pictures from this fall. Did a cow elk hunt with a couple guys back in October over on Afognak. Hunted off my buddies 58' seiner and joined forces with a pilot and his buddy on the beach so everyone would work together. Got on a herd of 80 the first day...
Quick hunt. We got in on January 31st and had both bulls down by 1pm on February 1st, 15 miles from town. I took this bull out of a small group of 7, then we went after a herd on the horizon for my partner. That herd was about 25 head and had a couple bigger bulls than the one I took. Buddy got...
A few lessons learned:
Never go sheep hunting in September
Never use a transporter that is also a guide in that area
It is possible to spot white sheep one white mt, but it is far more likely they will spot you first
Just cut your losses if you get delayed and only have 5 days to hunt
Last but...
My Dad came up for the week and we decided to try to get him a goat. I figured it would be a good training run for my sheep hunt next week. We flew down last Saturday and he shot this billy on Sunday, 8.75" with 5.5" bases and 3.5 years old.
Where we found him.
Monday was fogged in until mid...
Helped a couple freinds with their Afognak cow tags last Thursday and Friday. ;)

Got talked into a quick elk hunt with two of my good friends that had cow tags. We took off on my buddies boat Wednesday night at 10 after he received intel from a pilot friend that the elk were a half mile off the beach. Cruised most of the night and dropped anchor around 4am. Hit the beach...
I got a call Wednesday night from my friend and he said he wanted to fly down for a quick goat hunt. I got the OK from my wife and rearranged my schedule at work so I was ready to go Thursday afternoon. Weather wasn't promising, but we had a couple day window with fair weather. We knew we had to...

Hiking up to my billy.
Well I was supposed to be sheep hunting this week, but my hunting partner is closing on a fishing boat this week so had to cancel about 5 weeks ago. He made it up to me by telling his herring and salmon spotter (pilot) to drop me anywhere on Kodiak I wanted to go. I thought about going after...
Well it has been awhile since I posted on here. Got pretty busy this fall with a promotion at work and the birth of my first child, Lily Louise on November 4th.
I did get some hunting in this fall and saw a couple decent bucks that I couldn't close the deal on. Ended up taking a small spike to...
Well I got some pictures off the camera. These are Baridi Tanner crab, inbetween the king crab and opillio Tanner crab or snowcrab, and run around 2.3lbs for a legal crab (5.5" across the shell)with a few pushing 3.5lbs. Ray's boat is a 48' salmon seiner that we worked on for 6 weeks (weekends)...
Well I haven't retired the rifle yet for this fall, but I needed to get some fish in the freezer. Here's our take from a couple weekends ago. 1,100 lbs of silvers, 100lbs of halibut, 30lbs of rockfish and a 10lb lingcod.
Well I always wanted one in velvet so when I spotted this guy this morning I dropped the hammer on him. His left horn is a little lacking, but 16.5" inside spread isn't bad for a Sitka BT. I still have a couple friends looking for bucks and 2 more tags for off the roadsystem so I still got some...
No luck at all this year. Between the two draws I put in for 10 different hunts goat, sheep, bison, muskox and elk. Oh well, glad I booked the sheep hunt since we can always shoot a caribou if no legal rams around.
BTW say hello to my new toy.... :hump:
Taken a few kings, silvers and halibut...
